Gas cabinets were originally developed to satisfy the production and safety requirements of the semiconductor industry. However today there are federal, state, provincial and local regulations requiring users of compressed gas cylinders to store and use these materials in a gas storage cabinet, exhausted enclosure, or a separate ventilated gas storage room. The regulations require that gases designated “toxic” be stored in ventilated areas that comply with certain codes.
Gas cabinets are specifically recommended for this purpose. In fact, the use of gas cabinets is the most practical and cost-efficient means of pursuing code compliance. Matheson gas cabinets comply with Article 80 of the Uniform Fire Code, OSHA, and NFPA standards.
